The Baltic Sea is part of my creative process, not only my inspiration.
Some works are created using sand collected along the Baltic coast. Others begin with sea glass shaped by waves over decades. And sometimes, all it takes is the quiet feeling of standing by the water. Through paintings and sea treasures I invite you to bring a small piece of the Baltic Sea into your home, because I believe that art isn't only something we look at. It's something we feel.
I don't paint the Baltic Sea as I see it.
I paint it as I feel it.
My creative process rarely begins in the studio. It begins on the shoreline walking slowly, listening to the waves, collecting sand, searching for sea glass and stones, and noticing the small details that many people simply walk past.
Some paintings are made with sand gathered along the Latvian coast, adding natural texture that has already been shaped by wind and waves. Others are inspired by the colours, silence and open space of the sea itself. I don't try to recreate the landscape. Instead, I translate the feeling of being there.
That is why my paintings often leave space to breathe. Light space, soft textures and calm colours are not emptiness - they are part of the story. They reflect the quiet moments I experience by the sea and invite the viewer to slow down, pause and simply be.
Beyond painting, I also create jewellery using sea glass and carefully selected Baltic Sea stones. Every piece is unique, shaped by nature over many years before finding its way into my hands.
Nothing I create is mass-produced. Every painting. Every sea glass pendant. Every stone. Each one has its own story and waits for the person it belongs to.
Mandrika Art is an invitation to bring the feeling of the Baltic Sea into your everyday life, and I believe we don't choose every piece of art. Sometimes, it quietly chooses us.
